Vancouver Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT Clinic) - Downtown Eastside Connections Clinic - Addictions Treatment

A drop-in treatment centre for those struggling with illicit drug addiction and who have difficulty accessing mainstream services.
This service offers rapid access to oral opioid agonist treatments and connection to other services including residential treatment programs, mental health, and primary care. Programming is transitional with the goal of stabilization then transfer to appropriate community-based health services.

Physicians and pharmacists provide opioid replacement therapy, with clients assessed and receiving treatment within hours of check-in; also provide medication for other conditions that are prevalent in this population, such as HIV, hepatitis C, and psychiatric illnesses. Patients go to the clinic daily for treatment and after an average of three months, once they are stabilized, they will be connected to follow-up care through other longer-term health services.

Provides opioid users with free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) that can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, and fentanyl.

For ​clients living or very engaged in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, needing addiction support and not currently receiving care.

Eligibility:
  • Be living or interacting regularly within the DTES; and
  • Have a history of opioid dependence
  • Do not have a family doctor currently offering opiate agonist treatment

    Hours of operation:
    Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
    Weekends and statutory holidays: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

    The Connections clinic has resumed intakes for new clients. The clinic is open to intakes from all referral sources and to walk-ins, 7 days a week.
