Provides various support services for children with extra support needs.

Inclusion Powell River offers child and family programs including infant development, supported child development, youth outreach, specialized support for children and youth with complex needs, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and early intervention services to help children and families thrive.

Programs and services include:

Infant Development: A free, home-visiting program supporting children from birth to age three through developmental screening, individualized support, parenting resources, playgroups, workshops, and community connections. No diagnosis is required. Free for families in Powell River and Qathet. Referrals accepted from families, healthcare providers, childcare providers, counsellors, and social workers.
Supported Child Development: Community-based support for children up to age 12 with developmental, behavioural, or participation needs, including personalized planning, childcare consultation, inclusive support, referrals, and kindergarten transition assistance. No formal diagnosis is required to access SCD. This is an inclusive service available to any family seeking support. Referrals accepted from families, healthcare providers, childcare providers, counsellors, and social workers.
Youth Outreach: A program for children 13 and 19 years old that have been designated as a Child or Youth with Support Needs by Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD). A referral from the MCFD CYSN Social Worker is required for this program. This program includes many different activities and is geared towards helping youth prepare for life during and after high school. Support includes skill building workshops, social opportunities, transition planning, and goal setting.
Child and Youth With Support Needs: This program is for parents with children between the ages of 6 and 12 with support needs who have been previously diagnosed and qualify for CYSN services through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Various support services are offered such as planning, sourcing funding/grants, finding respite, and educational opportunities. A referral from the MCFD CYSN Social Worker is required for this program.
Complex Developmental Behavioural Condition:Supports children up to the age of 19 with confirmed or suspected complex behavioural conditions. This includes neurological conditions such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (F.A.S.D.). The program offers personalized one-on-one support to your family, as well as skills-based group programming. A child does not require an official diagnosis to access our C.D.B.C. program, and self-referrals are accepted.
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy: Provides physiotherapy and occupational therapy to babies, children and teens. Although these services are free, there may be a waitlist.
Early Intervention Enhancement Program: A voluntary program for families with children aged birth to five years that supports the development of good mental health and wellness for before school-aged children. It provides easy access to trauma-informed, culturally safe care, helping families support their child’s mental health by connecting them with services, navigating systems, and strengthening natural support networks. Referrals are accepted by family doctors or nurse practitioners, public health nurses, midwives, childcare providers, counsellors, social workers, and Strong Start programs. Self-referrals are not accepted.
