Lion’s Gate Cardiac Rehab and Cardiometabolic Program

A multi-disciplinary supervised exercise and education program for people who are recovering from cardiac related interventions or who are trying to prevent cardiac and other chronic diseases.
The Lion’s Gate Cardiac Rehab and Cardiometabolic Program is a collaboration of Dr. Kevin McLeod and Vancouver Coastal Health. The program serves the North Shore of Vancouver. The program is a multi-disciplinary supervised exercise and education program for people who are recovering from cardiac related interventions or who are trying to prevent cardiac and other chronic diseases.

Our clinic also helps support patients who do not have heart disease, but may exhibit:
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Elevated blood glucose level
  • Obesity
  • Stroke
  • Post cancer treatments
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • MS
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Arthritis (Osteo or Rheumatoid)
  • Lack of fitness

  • This program is referral based; referral from a family doctor is needed. Once the referral is received. The program will set up an intake assessment. The initial intake assessment will take about 90 minutes. Clients will be seeing a nurse, an exercise physiologist and a doctor. An exercise stress test may take place during this appointment to determine baseline fitness and help set safe guidelines for exercise. At this time, intake assessments may be done over the phone.
